The BJP is expected to make clear its decision on forming government in Delhi within a day or two, and, sources say, the party is leaning towards saying, "No." Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah reportedly favour fresh elections in February.
A group of the BJP's topmost leaders - the parliamentary board - discussed the political situation in the capital on Sunday night. PM Modi and Mr Shah, sources said, do not want the party to attempt forming government in Delhi without adequate numbers in the state assembly. The party is currently five seats short of a majority.
