Courts set up to handle sexual assault cases against foreign nationals have delivered timely judgements. Seen against this back drop the Delhi High Court's decision to set up five fast track courts is significant and holds promise of delivering speedy justice in such cases. Cases have been disposed off as early as within a matter of weeks. Like the Alwar fast track court that in 2006 gave the verdict on the rape of a German research scholar within 23 days. Similarly in 2007, a Udaipur fast track court convicted a man accused of raping a British journalist within five months. In one of the speediest trials, the court decided the case within 16 days.
