Pakistan has been exposed, yet again. This time, reports from Intelligence Bureau (IB) of India claimed that Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI was behind al-Qaeda's latest threat to India. A TV news channel reported that ISI nudged al-Qaeda terrorists to post the video. It was also said that al-Qaeda received approval from ISI to post the video in which its chief Al Zawahiri was seen threatening India to open a new wing in India's sensitive states such as -- Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The home ministry-led by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday, Sept 4 the IB to verify the al-Qaeda video which calls for "jihad" in the Indian subcontinent.
According to sources, Rajnath Singh held a meeting with the intelligence agencies over the issue. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was present at the meeting. Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh briefed the situation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources said an alert has been issued regarding the threat to all the states. al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has in a 55-minute video message announced the creation of an Indian branch of his militant group to "raise the flag of jihad" across South Asia. In the video Zawahari announced the formation of "al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent".
