The 2 Italian marines facing criminal trial for allegedly killing two Indian fishermen off the Kerala coast have been allowed to go home to Italy for Christmas. The Kerala High Court cleared their leaving the country and release of their passports. They've been asked to furnish a bank guarantee of 6 crore rupees. The marines have got permission to leave India and remain in Italy for two weeks from the date of their departure. They have to return to India before 3 PM on Jan 10, 2013. The Kerala government had opposed the plea for their return. The Italian Ambassador and Italian Consul General have filed undertakings on their return and restrictions.
