A police affidavit submitted in court says the state's police used AK-47 assault rifle among other weapons during a protest by dalits in Thangadh town of Surendranagar district on the 22nd and 23rd of September. 3 dalits, including 2 17-year-olds were killed in the incident. The affidavit submitted by a SP R S Bhagora says that a carbine gun and an AK 47 rifle were used by the police. What's even more damning is that, the affidavit says that the motive behind police firing was 'hatred' and 'prejudice' against dalits.
