The Samajwadi Party has released its first list of candidates for the next Lok Sabha polls a good 18 months before the Lok Sabha polls. Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav announced 55 candidates for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state. While the party's chief Mulayam Singh Yadav will again contest from Mainpuri, 16 more MPs have been repeated. Apart from Mulayam Singh himself, 3 more of his kin have been made contestants including his daughter-in-law Dimple, a sitting MP herself. The next general elections are expected only in 2014. With the UPA backer announcing its candidates so early the big question is, is this a hidden threat of early polls that the Samajwadi Party is sending to the Congress just a day after Rahul Gandhi was made the head of its poll coordination committee??
