The Empowered Group of Ministers of telecom spectrum.. headed by Finance Minister P Chidambaram is to meet today... and it's likely to decide on the issue of one-time spectrum fee. In its last meeting on the 3rd of October... the eGoM could not decide on the issue of one-time spectrum fee for existing telecom operators as it had not received legal opinion from the Attorney General on the matter. On Friday, the attorney general submitted its opinion to the EGoM. The issue of one-time spectrum fee had been referred to the eGoM in July. But it was deferred till the outcome of the Presidential reference. Following the Supreme Court's opinion on the Presidential Reference, the government is now free to take a decision in this regard.
