The Father of the Milk Co-operative revolution in India, Dr Verghese Kurien died in Gujarat. He was the Founder of the Gujarat Co-Operative Milk Marketing Federation and had changed the face of Milk marketing in India. The brand name Amul was identifiable with Dr Kurien for decades in a row till he quit the Co-operative. Dr Kurien has been decorated with several awards, key amongst them being the Padmashree award. Dr Kurien had been ailing for quite some time now.
