A case of kidnapping and murder of a college student surfaced on Wednesday with the arrest the accused by the city police. The accused, 25-year-old Kalpesh Soraj, and his accomplice Ravindra Kumar have been arrested for the murder and kidnapping of the victim. The victim has been identified as 20-year-old Ganesh Sriram, a second year student of Thakur College in Kandivali. The police have revealed that the victim stayed in a rented accommodation at Mira Road and his neighbourhood friend Kalpesh moved in to his flat 10 days ago. On August 12, Kalpesh reportedly took Ganesh to Naigoan on the pretext of meeting a friend and then kidnapped him with the help of Ravindra. According to the police, the duo murdered him on the same day and then made ransom calls to victim's father. They reportedly demanded Rs 8 lakhs but later settled for Rs 3 lakh. The victim's father is a civil contractor at Tarapur nuclear plant. The Mumbai police have arrested the two accuded Kalpesh and Ravindra in the case.
