BJP MLC from Katihar Ashok Agrawal yesterday morning allegedly shot dead one of his employees, Dhiraj Mahato, after he refused to work for him any longer. The police had initially termed it an "accidental" firing, but later registered a murder case against the MLC. The incident took place around 8.30 am at a petrol pump owned by Agrawal in Mirchaiwadi area under Sahayak police station of Katihar town. Agrawal allegedly shot 38-year-old Mahato and told the police that the firing took place when his bodyguard was servicing his carbine. Mahato's relatives told the police that Agrawal "used carbine of his bodyguard Awadhesh Singh to kill Mahato, who worked at an Araria business unit of the MLC".
