Nearly 400 Air India pilots are expected be on strike today after talks between the Air India management and the pilots union failed on Monday. The strike that had hit a few international flights on Saturday blew up further Monday with a host of international flights from Amritsar and New Delhi hit. More flight schedules are expected to be affected today. The Indian Pilots guild is protesting the fact that former Indian Airlines pilots are given training and hence a chance to fly the new Dreamliner jet acquired by Air India. Pilots of the Indian Pilots Guild are demanding that they too be trained on the 'Dreamliner' Boeing 787 like Indian Airlines pilots. They want a resolution to career progression prospects in the form of time-bound promotions every 6 years to the post of commander. The govt has rejected their demands asking them to wait for implementation of the Justice Dharmadhikari committee report on human resource issues.
