It has been seven months since the alleged gang rape of a photo journalist and a telephone operator shamed Mumbai. A court will on Thursday decide on the fate of the five accused in the Shakti Mills gang rape cases. The accused have been charged with rape, conspiracy, common intention and unnatural sex.
"In a city like Mumbai, something like this to happen in broad daylight is shocking to say the least. The image of safe Mumbai was at stake," the then top boss of the Mumbai crime branch and now ATS chief, Himanshu Roy, had said admitting that the Shakti Mills gangrape case tainted the image of Mumbai as a city safe for women .
