Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar presented a populist budget by slashing petrol prices by Rs.11, announcing Rs.1, 000 allowances for housewives, proposing to stabilize domestic gas cylinder prices, and setting target of 15 per cent GDP growth for the next fiscal. The Manohar Parrikar government had announced that only 0.1 percent value added tax (VAT) component would be levied by the state government during the presentation of the Budget.
