The question of death penalty for the murderer of Punjab Chief Minister, Beant Singh now threatens to once again raise the spectre of separatist terror in Punjab. Balwant Singh a co-accused in the murder is slated to hang on March 31st, after the Punjab High court rejected a PIL seeking commutation of his death sentence to life. The issue has turned into a hot potato, with the Prakash Singh Badal government treading cautiously.
