The great UP assembly election bandwagon is well underway now. This is the first phase of elections to 55 of the 403 constituencies in the state that is going to polls. Polling has picked up though early morning rains had dampened people's spirits. Till 1 pm, Election Commission reports say 30 percent voting had taken place. In the early hours that is till 11 am only 13.38 per cent voters had come out to cast their ballot. Remember, it's the biggest political battle of the year with the BSP chief putting in all her efforts to retain Uttar Pradesh. Mulayam and Akhilesh Yadav put up a key challenge. Rahul Gandhi's future too rests heavily on these elections as the BJP looks to cash in as a divider of votes.
