There are fears of a massive setback to India's BPO sector. A new U.S Bill tabled in the House of Representatives seeks to bar US call centers operating in locations such as India from seeking government grants or loans for five years. If passed, the bill will fine U.S call centers for failing to report relocation to an offshore location within 60 days. The new law may impact the growth of the already sluggish 14-billion dollar Indian BPO market which is under pressure due to a slowdown in U.S markets and competition from other locations.
