Google expose Sibal's action over web censorship

The truth has been revealed behind Kapil Sibal threatening action against social networking cites unless 'offensive' contents are filtered. More than a concern for derogatory and inflammable contents being posted, it seems the IT Minister was driven by an intolerance of criticism of the govt and its policies. Google has put out a report that shows that between Januarys to June this year, the Govt asked it to remove 358 items from its services. 255 or over 70% of these requests cited govt criticism as the reason. Defamation, privacy, security and hate speech are some of the other reasons cited for requesting their removals. 51% of these requests have been fully or partially complied with
