India News : Around 5,000 pilgrims remain stranded at Badrinath, as fresh spells of rain on Thursday morning at Dehradun and Garhwal region has hampered rescue operations.
Officials said Indian Air Force (IAF) choppers would resume making sorties to rescue people and deliver relief material when they got clear visibility during the day.
The administration will also resume cremating the dead pilgrims at Kedarnath when the rain stops. Amid fears of an epidemic breaking out due to bodies getting decomposed, the mass cremation of the dead began on Wednesday at Kedar valley in Rudraprayag district in accordance with religious tenets.
