India News: The unseemly political fight over the tragedy in Uttarakhand worsened on Tuesday with BJP criticizing Rahul Gandhi for visiting the affected areas in the hills in an IAF helicopter despite the Union home minister Sushil Shinde's appeal to VIPs to keep off as their presence hampered relief work.
Shinde's appeal was made soon after Gujarat CM Narendra Modi's publicized relief work in Uttarakhand. The Congress argued back saying that the party vice president did not flout any norm or transgress any rule. "Rahul Gandhi has not flouted any norm. He has gone there as a citizen of the country and vice president of Congress. He went there in a personal vehicle driven by his friends," party spokesperson Renuka Chowdhary told reporters.
