Dal Dhokli is one of the most loved Gujarati dish. Made by cooking dough slices in dal this recipe has an amazing taste which is a bit of sweet and spicy both. Do try it at home and let us know your feedback in the comments below.
Ingredients:
For Dhokli
1 cup Wheat Flour
1 tbsp Gram Flour
Turmeric powder
Red Chilli powder
Salt
2-3 tbsp Oil
For Dal
1 tbsp Ghee
1/2 tbsp Mustard seeds
1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds
2-3 Dried Red Chillies
2-3 Green Chillies, slit
1 cup Split Pigeon peas, cooked
1/2 cup Water
Turmeric powder
Red Chilli powder
Salt
1-2 tbsp Jaggery (chopped)
Ginger, crushed
1/2 Lemon juice
Coriander leaves & ghee for garnishing
Method of preparation:
For Dhokli
In a bowl, add wheat flour, gram flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, oil and mix them well.
Add water and knead it into a dough.
Keep the dough aside to rest for 5 minutes.
Take a portion of the dough, make small ball, dust it with wheat flour and roll it.
Cut it into small pieces.
For Dal
Heat a vessel, add ghee, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies, green chillies, Split Pigeon peas.
Add water and keep the consistency of the dal thin.
Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, jaggery and mix well.
Add ginger, lemon juice, mix well and give it a boil.
Add the dhokli into the dal.
Keep stiring it lightly and once it comes to a boil, switch off the flame and take it out on a serving bowl.
Garnish it with coriander leaves and ghee.
Our Dal Dhokli is ready.
