Pompeo arrives in Hanoi ahead of North Korea-U.S. summit

So we're hearing U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has just arrived in Hanoi ahead of the summit
He's going to be staying at the JW Marriott Hotel with President Trump.
For more, let's connect to our Lee Ji-wo in Hanoi.

Ji-won, how are things looking there?

Ji-yoon, I'm in front of the JW Marriott Hotel, where President Trump and the rest of the U.S. delegation are to stay during their two-days in Hanoi.
Reuters reports that Pompeo arrived in Hanoi at around 8am, local time,... but he hasn't come to the hotel yet.
That said,... roads have been blocked around the hotel for the U.S. delegates and the presidential limo, The Beast, has just left the hotel.

Meanwhile, President Trump is en route to Vietnam right now.
Vietnam's foreign ministry said Monday that Air Force One will be landing at Hanoi's Noi Bai International Airport at 8:30 p.m. tonight.
The ministry added that Trump will meet with Vietnam's president, who is also general secretary of the ruling Communist Party, (NGUYEN FOO CHUNG) Nguyen Phu Trong, and the Prime Minister (new-when shun-fook) Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Wednesday morning.

Now Ji-won, it seems the working-level officials from both sides have done their part, and the ball is now in the leaders' court...

Yes Ji-yoon. Working-level talks for today haven't started,... and we're assuming negotiations on the working-level might actually be over.
After more than 18 hours of talks for four days from Thursday through Sunday, the top negotiators of North Korea and the U.S. only met for 30 minutes on Monday evening.
This comes as North Korea's acting director-general for the Foreign Ministry's North American Affairs department, Choe Kang-il, visited the U.S. delegates at Hotel du Parc Hanoi for about two and a half hours earlier in the day.
So it seems like Choe and his counterpart fleshed out the details and the top officials just gave it their final approval.
We're not expecting any more talks between U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, Stephen Biegun and his North Korean counterpart Kim Hyok-chol,... as Biegun moved his luggage out of the Hotel du Parc, to the JW Marriott on Monday.
Back to you, Jiyoon.
