Peter Tork of 'The Monkees'
Dies at Age 77 While a cause of death has not been revealed, Tork was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago. Statement, via Facebook Tork was the bassist for the 1960's pop group which also spawned a popular sitcom. The Emmy award winning
show ran from 1966 to 1968. The band had several number one hits, including 'Daydream Believer' and 'Last Train to Clarksville.' While fellow bandmate Davy Jones died in 2012, Tork frequently reunited with the remaining members. 'Monkees' member Micky Dolenz expressed his sadness in a tweet, saying he is "heart broken over the loss."
