Although the public is informed that they should receive a flu shot every year, immunization rates remain dismally low for flu vaccine. Many people don't realize that it is especially important to immunize children 6 months to 18 years of age. Actor Amanda Peet faced the vaccination controversy while pregnant with her first child in early 2007. Throughout her pregnancy, many of her Hollywood friends recommended she delay or completely refuse vaccines for her new baby, suggesting that vaccines were the cause of disorders such as autism.
