Survivors Relive the Parkland Shooting in New, Emotional Documentary - Watch an Exclusive Clip

2019-02-12 21

On Feb. 14, 2018, a gunman armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle walked into building 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, and opened fire, killing 17 students and staff members and injuring 14 more.

As the first anniversary of the Parkland shooting approaches, filmmaker Charlie Minn explores the massacre and its aftermath in the new documentary Parkland: Inside Building 12. Through the harrowing stories of more than 40 students, cellphone videos, and law enforcement footage, Minn pieces together what happened during the six-minute-long shooting.

In this moving, exclusive clip from the film, several survivors recount their experiences that day. The film attempts to disrupt the narrative surrounding mass shootings by focusing on survivors' experiences instead of the shooter's. Minn hopes the film will contribute to the grassroots movement that prompted students, faculty, and parents to attempt to reform gun control legislation.

The documentary is available on Feb. 12 on Amazon and Hoopla Digital.
