A Bahamas Investment Fund License is issued under the provisions of the Investment Funds Act, 2003 and the Investment Fund Regulations, 2003. As a prerequisite for applying for a Bahamas Investment Find License, it has to be determined which type of fund you want to operate and your target group of customers. If you are not registered in any of the foreign jurisdictions and wish to target the retail market, then you will most likely be required to apply for the license for a standard fund. If you are registered in a recognized foreign jurisdiction and fulfill the requirements under the local law, you can obtain an exemption from a license and may be able to operate through a simple process of registration.
