Nancy Pelosi has weighed in on the possibility of another shutdown.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she believes Republicans will be reluctant to fully back President Trump's demand for border wall funding if doing so means triggering another partial government shutdown.
"There will not be another shutdown," she told Politico on Wednesday. "No, it's not going to happen."
"I have a club that I started, it's called the 'Too Hot to Handle Club.' And this is a too-hot-to-handle issue," Pelosi also commented. Bipartisan negotiations for legislation that will fund the federal government past February 15 are underway. While Trump has said the talks would be a "waste of time" if the result doesn't include $5.7 billion in wall funding, Pelosi has "offered her unqualified support," notes the New York Times. She told reporters on Wednesday: "If left to their own devices, if they have a bipartisan agreement, I will support it."
