President Trump took another jab at Nancy Pelosi in a CBS interview.
Amid the negotiations over border security, President Trump said in a CBS News interview that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is "very bad for our country."
"She knows that you need a barrier. She knows we need border security," Trump added. "I happen to think it's very bad politics."
The interview comes after he suggested on Thursday that, should the barrier along the California-Tijuana border be removed, Pelosi would be "begging for a wall," reports CNBC. The comment followed a question about his willingness to accept other kinds of physical barriers Pelosi recently suggested she would approve. "If there's no wall, it doesn't work. She's just playing games," Trump said. After asserting that his wall is already under construction, Trump stated, "If you go to Tijuana, and you take down that wall, you will have so many people coming into our country that Nancy Pelosi will be begging for a wall."
"She'll be begging for a wall. She will say, 'Mr. President, please, please give us a wall.' It would be very interesting," Trump further noted. Pelosi has been firm on her refusal to provide Trump with the billions of dollars in border wall money he seeks. Lawmakers are in the midst of coming to an agreement that will keep the government open past February 15, the day the current temporary funding measure expires.
