Deep freeze grips U.S. Midwest, blamed for at least 12 deaths

Residents across the U.S. pulled out their heaviest winter coats as a torrent of polar air brought record-low temperatures. Officials and media report that at least 12 people have died as result of extreme cold weather so far.
