Mormon Doctrine: Finding Faith in Jesus Christ - Part 3 of 3

"The fundamental principles of our religion are the testimony of the Apostles and Prophets, concerning Jesus Christ, that He died, was buried, and rose again the third day, and ascended into heaven; and all other things which pertain to our religion are only appendages to it." - Joseph Smith Heaven was His throne and earth His footstool (Acts 7:49)---and yet at Bethlehem there was no room for Him---no crib for His bed. He was the architect of the world and yet stated that the "Son of Man hath not where to lay his head." (Matthew 8:20) He was a God and commanded the waters and the land—yet on Calgary begged for a cool refresh of water and was given bitter vinegar "mixed with gall" instead. (Matthew 27:34) He who healed the ten lepers asked the returning one, "where are the nine?" (Luke 17:17) He taught eternal truths in His own home town and they responded "Is not this Joseph's son?" They grew so offended they took Him up on a hill to "cast him down headlong." (Luke 4) To those of His own family Matthew recorded: "they were offended at Him." (Matthew 13:57) To those whom He beckoned saying "O, Jerusalem, Jerusalem...how often would I have gathered thee!" (Matthew 23:37) They responded with "Crucify Him!" (John 19:6) He who experienced the admonition "greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends," (John 15:13) was betrayed by a kiss from a friend. (Mark 14:44) He that said "He that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone," (John 8:29) cried out in agony "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matthew 27:46) He who was the meekest and lowliest of all took the bitterest cup without becoming the least bit bitter. He, Jesus Christ hath descended below it all and hath triumphed over all.
