Trump Will Not
Deliver State of
the Union on Tuesday Tuesday was the day
the address had been
originally scheduled
to take place. An aide for House Speaker
Nancy Pelosi confirmed that
President Donald Trump's
address will not happen on that date. The date of Trump's address
has been under debate since
the final weeks of the
government shutdown. Pelosi spoke out against
the address, saying it
shouldn't happen while
the government was closed. It takes a joint resolution
from Congress for the
address to take place. Trump ultimately
agreed to postpone
the address. A White House spokesperson
said discussions were underway
about rescheduling the address. After Trump announced the
deal to reopen the government,
Pelosi stated, "the State
of the Union is not planned now."
