Trump Agrees to
Temporarily End
Government Shutdown President Donald Trump
made the announcement
on Friday from the White
House Rose Garden. President Trump,
via CNN The government will reopen
and be funded for three
weeks until February 15. During that time,
negotiators will continue
talks on the border wall. Trump reiterated
that he could declare
a national emergency. President Trump,
via CNN If he does declare a
national emergency,
Trump could bypass Congress
to secure funding for the wall. Trump also addressed back-
pay for government workers,
saying they would receive
it "as soon as possible." For 36 days, 800,000 government
workers have been either
furloughed or required
to work without pay. The current partial
government shutdown has
been the longest in U.S. history.
