Bridges close over the Hudson after at least four boats broke loose in upstate New York Friday and were swept along the river, local media reported.
Footage from Troy, some seven miles north of Albany, shows the cruise boat Captain JP scraping against the bank after an ice jam carried it off. The Rusty Anchor Restaurant Barge was also one of those that broke loose.
"Troy's Police and fire department are shutting down multiple bridges as they race to try to keep up with these free floating vessels in the ice jam," wrote the filmer.
While the vessels initially broke loose at around 2:00am, the Captain JP Cruise Line (shown in the footage) first struck the Congress Street Bridge, later getting stuck under the Livingston Avenue train bridge in Albany. The US Coast Guard is dispatching two ice cutters.
