A top economic adviser for President Trump on Wednesday admitted that zero first-quarter growth is a possibility if the partial government shutdown stretches to the end of March.

A top economic adviser for President Trump on Wednesday admitted that zero first-quarter growth is a possibility if the partial government shutdown stretches to the end of March.  CNN asked White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Kevin Hassett if the US could experience such an outcome, and he replied, "We could, yes." He also noted that when payment is restored to the roughly 800,000 workers who have now missed two paychecks, the economy will likely rebound.   Notably, the shutdown has now become the longest in the nation's history, and Trump remains determined to get $5.7 billion in funding for the wall along the US-Mexico border, while House Democrats show no signs of willingness to make that happen.
