President Trump on Tuesday shared a tweet that pointed out former President Barack Obama was never accused of being an agent for Russia. Written by Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA, it read: "No one accused Obama of being a Russian agent after he asked for 'more flexibility' until after [the] election, or when Obama ignored Putin's invasion into Crimea, or when Assad used chemical gas in Syria and Obama's red line was crossed." Trump's retweet of that message comes as he defends himself against a recent New York Times piece about an FBI investigation focused on Trump's ties to Russia.
He responded to the Times' report on Monday, telling reporters, "I never worked for Russia, and you know that answer better than anybody. It's a whole big fat hoax. It's just a hoax." "The people doing that investigation were people that have been caught that are known scoundrels. I guess you could say they're dirty cops," Trump also commented.
