AI Tech Can Identify
Genetic Disorders
From a Person's Face Named Deep Gestalt,
the AI technology outperformed
clinicians in three separate trials. The study was
published in the
journal Nature Medicine. Using a photograph of a patient's face,
Deep Gestalt would propose a list of
ten possible rare genetic disorders. The photos used were of
patients already diagnosed
with particular disorders. The technology could
identify the correct
syndromes 91% of the time. Jorge Cardoso, King's College London, via CNN Critics of the technology
say it could be used to
discriminate against people
with pre-existing conditions.
