Thousands to greet 2019 with the bell-ringing at Bosingak

2019-01-01 24

In New York, they have the bell drop at Times Square.
In France, events at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and for many here in Korea,... the celebration is at Boshingak in downtown Seoul -- where they ring a huge bell that's hundreds of years old.

Tonight, that's where our Park Hee-jun is on standby right in the middle of a massive crowd,.. all wanting to see that bell-ringing ceremony set to begin soon. Hee-jun, I know it's cold out there -- but with so many people out there celebrating, it's gotta be pretty exciting.

Guys, we’re merely minutes away from entering 2019.
And if you want to welcome the new year with all the excitement in your face-- this is the place to be.
Thousands of people have gathered here despite the freezing weather to see that bell ring in less than half an hour.
And you definitely don't want to miss out on this iconic event.

Now, with me right now is Haley Rumper from the United States,... who is also here to enjoy the ceremony.
Hello Haley, thanks so much for joining us.
So, how do you feel about saying farewell to 2018?

Do you have any new year's resolutions for 2019?

They sound like wonderful plans and I wish you the best of luck
Thank you again Haley. Happy New Year

So Bosingak isn't a place for people to just watch the fancy performances and the countdown.
You can also look back at what happened throughout the year,... and make new goals for the next.

And to give you guys a better idea of what's going to happen at midnight...
At 11:59, after the countdown,...16 people, including the Seoul mayor, will be ringing the bell.
And they'll strike the bell 33 times,... which will mark the very beginning of 2019.

I'll be back for that,... but for now, I'll hand things over to you.
