U.S. President Donald Trump has held phone talks with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping about their countries' trade conflict,... and afterwards both sides were sounding positive.
They also touched on the Korean Peninsula peace process, President Xi saying again that he supports talks between the U.S. and the North.
Yoon Jung-min reports.
On Twitter, President Trump said he "just had a long and a very good call with President Xi of China," and that the two covered "all subjects, areas and points of dispute."
He also said a deal is moving along "very well," and he expects some progress to be made on a comprehensive level.
This month at the G20 summit in Argentina, the two leaders called a truce on the trade war.
If a deal isn't reached by a deadline in March,... President Trump has been threatening to increase tariffs from the current 10 percent to 25 percent on 200 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods.
China welcomed news of some improvement in trade relations and bilateral ties.
According to Chinese media, including Xinhua,... President Xi emphasized the importance of diplomatic ties with Washington and expressed hopes for cooperation on international and regional issues.
In their phone call, the leaders also discussed broader issues.
Reports say Xi reiterated his support for America's talks with North Korea for peace on the Korean Peninsula, hoping for positive results.
