President Donald Trump bragged to army personnel at the Al Asad air base in Iraq that he had secured the military a fictional "big pay raise" of 10%. He also stated incorrectly that he had authorized the first military pay increase in a decade. The military has, in fact, received a pay raise every year for three decades. It was raised 2.4% in 2018 and will now rise by another 2.6% in 2019.
