Authorities say the body of a 14-year-old was found at the bottom of Horseshoe Bend Overlook.
Authorities in Coconino County, Arizona report that a 14-year-old girl fell to her death at the Horseshoe Bend Overlook on Monday. The sheriff's office responded to an afternoon call about a missing girl who had last been seen hours prior at the overlook. An air search of the area revealed a young girl's body at the bottom of the bend, which is roughly 700 feet from the overlook. The office reports, "due to impending nightfall, rescuers were not able to recover her body that evening," but did so on the morning of the following day. According to People magazine, authorities believe the fall was accidental, but an investigation is being conducted. The girl, whose name has not been released, and her family were visiting from the San Jose, California area.
