Study: Women Abused Every 30 Seconds on Twitter Amnesty International released a report about being a female user on the social network. The study reveals female journalists and politicians were abused every 30 seconds on Twitter in 2017. This is the largest report ever examining the way women are targeted with hate speech online. Roughly 1.1 million abusive tweets were sent to these women. This included members of U.S. Congress, female U.K. MPs and journalists working for various political websites. Researchers also discovered that black women were 84% Twitter claims to be investing heavily in machine learning that will fight against abusive tweets.
