President Moon Jae-in congratulated the recently elected chief of Interpol, who became the first Korean to hold the post.

The President told Kim that he will be able to raise Interpol's status by boosting cooperation with countries to more effectively fight international crimes like terrorism.
Before being elected the head of the global law enforcement body, Kim Jong-yang..., served in the South Korean police since 1992, rising to the post of Chief of Police in Gyeonggi-do Province, and retired in 2015 to become a vice president at Interpol.
