Chennai is staring at a second major water crisis within 3 years. The four water reservoirs on the outskirts of city are drying up together. These reservoirs hold 1.5tmc of water, which is just one-fourth of what was available last year. At present, the monsoon deficit in the city stands at 54% and unless it pours heavily, the inevitable is scheduled to happen. Now what remains to be seen is that what measures will be taken to avoid the dreadful situation.
