Facebook Files Patent for Tech That Can Predict Where You’re Going Next Buzzfeed News reported the tech giant filed the patent application entitled, “Offline Trajectories.” This will allow Facebook to guess where you’re going “based at least in part on previously logged location data.” That means they will tap into your location data, as well as that of others, to make these predictions. The tech starts determining where you will go based on your daily routines. If it predicts you are going to a restaurant you normally go to, it will pre-load their News Feed for you. These recent patents show Facebook is continuing to look for ways to gather data about its users. Knowing where users are going will provide opportunities to provide ads that are more likely
to be clicked.
