Luke 2:11-14 (AMPC)
11 For to you is born this day in the town of David a Savior, Who is Christ (the Messiah) the Lord!
The word nowell has its roots - The word, noel, seems to be a French word with Latin roots: natalis, meaning “birthday.” The meaning has surprise in its meaning.
The Meaning of the Word 'Noel' ... It also operates in two forms: lower-case (“noel”) and capitalized (“Noel”). The former means “a Christmas carol,” and the latter translates to Christmas. Across the pond, you might hear French people wish each other “Joyeux Noël,” which means “Merry Christmas” or “Happy Christmas.”
Originally only sung on Christmas morning until William Sandys - a christian lawyer & Davies Gilbert a wealthy christian who was a member of Parliament (government) and President of the Society of Science in england got came together - and gathered NOT just a few songs but 21 christian Christmas songs. They had a Big heart for Jesus!
Caroling was their way of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ to the world.
