EPA Rolls Back Obama-era
Coal Emissions Rule Andrew Wheeler, the acting head
of the Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA), announced
the change on Thursday. It lifts restrictions on coal
emissions that limited the
construction of new plants. Andrew Wheeler, Acting EPA Administrator, via CNN Wheeler is a former
lobbyist for the
coal industry. He says the Obama-era rule
required power plants to
use costly technology to
capture carbon emissions. Wheeler argues that without
the law, companies will have more
freedom to innovate and invest. The lift comes days after
a U.S. government report
calling for aggressive action
to reverse global warming.
