PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir said the salary deductions were too high, and called on PTPTN to delay the implementation of the new loan repayment scheme.
"This must also be studied based on the agreement on repayment rate agreed upon between PTPTN and the borrowers prior to this.
"This is not the first time a PTPTN announcement has caused concern, just like the initial minimum salary level for repayment being set at RM1,000, which was amended to RM2,000," he said.
It was announced that the new repayment scheme would be enforced from January next year on borrowers whose monthly salaries were RM2,000 and above.
The percentage of monthly deductions, between two to 15 percent, will be based on each borrower's respective salary level.
