A bomb threat at the Time Warner Center in Manhattan caused evacuations at CNN's Midtown studios on Thursday night, local media reported.
According to a law enforcement source. a caller indicated there were five devices in the building, prompting an evacuation and an investigation by the NYPD. Reporter Don Lemon's CNN Tonight, which had been on a commercial break, was taken off the air and replaced by taped programming before going live from the street while police continued the investigation.
The phone call came shortly after President Trump's tweet, "FAKE NEWS – THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!".
This video shows Lemon speaking with media about the timing of the social media post. "The tweet went out at 10:08 pm," Lemon said. "At 10:15 pm, that's when the bomb threat came in."
No connection has been drawn between the tweet and the bomb threat.
The NYPD finished clearing the building just before midnight, with CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker declaring that the building is "safe and secure" for everyone to return to in the morning.
