Fine dust and yellow dust from China chokes Korea

We start with the terrible air quality we've been subjected to in Korea for the past 24 hours or so.
A nasty combo of fine, ultra-fine and yellow dust straddled almost the entire country on Tuesday and may not clear until later today... so of you are watching us in Korea, it's advisable to wear a face mask before venturing outside.
Lee Seung-jae reports.
People in Korea have become used to coping with varying levels of fine and ultra-fine dust at certain times of the year, but on Tuesday they also had to deal with a blast of yellow dust blown in from inner Mongolia.
Ultra-fine dust warnings were issued across the nation,... with concentration levels rising throughout the day.
Additional warnings were issued on Wednesday morning for the Chungcheong and Honam regions.
The grim combination of toxic smog and yellow dust left people feeling unsafe being outside.

"With the amount of smog and yellow dust, I'm worried even though I'm wearing a face mask. I think it's making my head hurt as well."

Fortunately, the country might soon get some respite from the yellow dust and the fine dust as weather experts say colder winds from the north should blow away most of the smog and yellow dust over the course of Wednesday.
However, they warn a period of milder temperatures or a change in wind direction could cause heavily-polluted air to return.
Officials say children, the elderly and those with respiratory problems should stay indoors when smog alerts are issued.
