An examination of a dead sperm whale that recently washed ashore in Indonesia revealed that the sea creature had over thirteen pounds of plastic in its stomach.  The BBC reports that mass included "115 drinking cups, four plastic bottles, 25 plastic bags and two flip-flops."  It is unclear if that's what caused the more than 30-foot-long animal's death.  Indonesia does have one of the world's leading plastic waste problems, coming second only to China, but is taking steps toward minimizing the issue.  According to Reuters, it has launched an initiative to reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the waters by seventy percent in the coming years.
