A dolphin suffering from a bullet wound was found dead on a California beach.
An animal rescue group is offering a $5,000 reward to help find the person who shot and killed a dolphin, reports NBC News.
The announcement was made on the Marine Animal Rescue Facebook page Friday.
In the post, the group says the animal was "found dead on Manhattan Beach, California. Upon rescue and examination, Dr. Palmer found that the dolphin died from a bullet wound."
It's also noted: "There is NO excuse for such brutality against these beautiful animals. We are offering a $5,000.00 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person that shot the dolphin."
According to NBC News, the dolphin was spotted on November 8, and its remains were taken to a facility where the fatal bullet was removed.
The National Marine Fisheries Service agency has since been contacted about a possible investigation into the incident.
